Sempliscia's products contain no chemical emulsifiers or preservatives, so they must be shaken well before each use. The ingredients will separate naturally. For that reason, there is always some space intentionally left in every bottle of product. 

People may wonder why we offer the option of plastic or glass containers for some of our products. Products that contain essential oils are best kept in glass containers. There are a few reasons why glass is preferred. Plastic can break down over time, causing leaks and the possible loss of product. Essential oils can permeate plastic, and there is the potential for plastic to infiltrate products. Additionally, glass is better for our environment and easier to reuse. At the same time, we understand that people may not always want to use glass, due to the high risk of breakage on hard surfaces in bathrooms, so plastic is offered as an option for most products. 

Some people may prefer to use products in a plastic container, but are concerned about the impact on the environment. There is increasing concern about the negative effects of microplastics in our soil and water. Very little of the plastic we discard is actually recycled. Plastic may take hundreds or thousands of years to degrade in our ever-increasing landfills, leaching potentially toxic substances. In an attempt to do a small part in mitigating these issues, we offer refills for many of our products in glass jars that come with funnels to easily refill your plastic bottles!

If you choose to keep your products in plastic because of portability, potential for breakage or any other reason, we recommend that you store larger quantities in glass in a cool, dark place. As an example, you may choose to keep your Insect repellent in a 2 oz portable plastic spray bottle, but store a larger quantity in a glass jar refills, or for storage through the winter if you live in a cooler climate. 

Certain essential oils may be sensitive to light, so be sure to store your products in a cool, dark place, such as a cabinet. 

Most of our products are vegan. Body wash is not vegan and does not come in a vegan option. Age defying serum is not vegan but it does come in a vegan option. If you would prefer that option, please contact us and we will be happy to provide it!
